About the project
We started out with a complete redesign of Bitchielife.com. It was supposed to mirror its sister site NecoleBitchie.com but with the opposite color scheme.
We updated the header of the site simply by adding the leaderboard ad next to the logo. Often times people place leaderboard ads at the top and bottom of their websites without thinking about how its placement will affect the aesthetics of the site. Next we updated the blog layout with a fresh, cleaner look and feel. This particular website gets a lot of comments so we wanted to be sure to highlight the number of comments as well as re-tweets and facebook likes.
We updated the footer as well. The original footer contained previous posts. We updated the footer by adding the current posts from all three of their websites. This way, visitors can keep abreast of the hottest topics on all three websites without ever leaving the site.
Next was the sidebar. We wanted to make the sidebar not only more attractive but also more engaging. We achieved this by highlighting their latest comments and newly designed photo gallery, incorporated their latest tweets and videos, created ads for their new store and sister site, and added their hottest category posts. Now they have three categories that are very popular and adding a list of each down the sidebar would have been entirely too much content on the sidebar. SO what we did was combine the content using tabs to free up some real estate in the sidebar.
We optimized the post pages by adding more content and imagery. This helps keep the reader engaged longer.
